Coming from a family of organists Alan has always enjoyed classical organ music, but it wasn’t until his father, who was the organist at Park Methodist Church, Church Gresley, took ill that his interest in the organ really began. After a few weeks of trying to play the organ Alan decided to take some formal organ lessons under Mr. R. C. Arnold, a very well respected musician of his time. Alan has been the organist at Church Gresley Methodist Church for nearly 40 years and was also the organist for the Swadlincote Messiah Choral Society from 1994 to 2003 taking part in annual performances at Hill Street Baptist Church, with the highlight of playing for the 100th performance in 2003. Alan is also organist and choirmaster at St. George and St. Mary’s Parish Church in Church Gresley.
