Creating music for silent movies is fun but also takes a load of skills to pull it off. While having fun students learn such skills as planning, fitting sounds to events, editing, and instrument usability not to mention skills with video and video editing. The year six students do an amazing job of showing us their skills as they set music to “The Society Raffles” (1905).

So not only are students using their musical creativity, but they are getting a lesson in music technology as well. Machines such as “the looper” come in handy as well when doing music such as this. If you don’t know what the looper is then come and join us next time we have our “silent movies” class!
